Celebration of the 115th Anniversary of International Women’s Day, 8 March 2026, at the Australian Embassy in Cambodia

Phnom Penh: On the evening of March 5, 2026, Her Excellency Dr. Ing Kantha Phavi, Minister of Women’s Affairs, and His Excellency Derek Yip, Australian Ambassador to Cambodia, presided over the celebration of the 115th International Women’s Day under the topic: “Women Leading Human Capital Transformation.”

Her Excellency Dr. Ing Kantha Phavi emphasized that people are the leaders of transformation within the country. In this process, women are not only active participants but also key leaders in driving change. While human capital transformation is important for national development, peace and security remain indispensable prerequisites for such progress to thrive. This highlights the connection between the topics chosen by Cambodia and the Australian Embassy for this year’s International Women’s Day.

His Excellency Derek Yip further underscored that investing in women and girls acts as a crucial catalyst for sustainable development. He noted that such investment leads to the reduction of conflict, the strengthening of social conditions, increased economic productivity, and the expansion of opportunities for meaningful participation.
