Celebration of the 115th Anniversary of International Women’s Day, 8 March 2026, at the Ministry of Interior
Phnom Penh: On the afternoon of March 5, 2026, Her Excellency Dr. Ing Kantha Phavi, Minister of Women’s Affairs, attended the celebration of the 115th anniversary of International Women’s Day 8 March. The event was held under the topic “Peace and Security for Women and Families” and was presided over by His Excellency Dr. Sar Sokha, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, and Her Excellency Ke Suon Sophy, Honorary Chairperson of the Gender Working Group of the Ministry of Interior. Also in attendance was Her Excellency Mao Malay at the Ministry of Interior.
His Excellency Dr. Sar Sokha, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, expressed his full support for the Royal Government of Cambodia’s decision to adopt the topic “Peace and Security for Women and Families” coordinated by the Ministry of Women’s Affairs. He noted that this theme aligns with both global trends and the specific context of Cambodia. The Deputy Prime Minister further emphasized that the Ministry of Interior is actively fulfilling its mission to ensure that women and families live in a favorable environment characterized by safety, well-being, and freedom from violence and fear.
Her Excellency Dr. Ing Kantha Phavi underlined that peace and security are inseparable from the well-being of women and families. Furthermore, the full participation of women to their maximum potential will accelerate the building and maintenance of peace and security, as well as the overall development of the nation.
