Celebration of the 115th Anniversary of International Women’s Day, 8 March 2026, at the Ministry of Social Affairs, Veterans and Youth Rehabilitation
Phnom Penh: On the morning of 5 March 2026, Her Excellency Dr. Ing Kantha Phavi, Minister of Women’s Affairs, and His Excellency Chea Somethy, Minister of Social Affairs, Veterans and Youth Rehabilitation, together with H.E Chea Phalkun CheaSomethy, presided over the celebration of the 115th anniversary of International Women’s Day 8 March under the topic “Peace and Security for Women and Families”, held at the Ministry of Social Affairs, Veterans and Youth Rehabilitation.
The selection of the theme “Peace and Security for Women and Families” for this year’s International Women’s Day aims to highlight the invaluable value of peace and security as fundamental foundations and indispensable preconditions for sustainable development, stability, social prosperity, and respect for human rights as well as underscores the active contributions of women in efforts to build and maintain lasting peace.
Her Excellency the Minister emphasized that for women and girls, peace means more than the absence of conflict. It entails ensuring safety, protecting rights, promoting value and dignity, and providing full opportunities for women and girls to contribute to, and equally benefit from development.
His Excellency the Minister further stressed that the gentle strength of women can transform into a strong force in defending the nation, through women’s active participation both at the front lines and behind the scenes, tirelessly contributing and providing support in every possible way.
